Contemporary and Emerging Surgical Approaches for Spasticity

A number of exciting, disruptive advances in spasticity surgery have triggered renewed interest. Following a brief overview of historical and well-established surgical approaches, the topic of hyperselective neurectomy will be covered in depth, including unpublished lab data pointing to a potential treatment mechanism. Regarding future directions, two unpublished, emerging (and still unproven) surgical approaches will be briefly discussed (C7 neurotomy, "reset neurorrhaphy").
