Nerve Transfers for Tetraplegia

Johns Hopkins

D Lubelski, A Belzberg

Nerve transfers have emerged as an effective approach to restore upper extremity motor function to patients with tetraplegia. The current state of this rapidly developing field will be reviewed, including multiple case examples and discussion of important considerations and lessons learned. A thoughtful algorithm will be provided for the various levels of spinal cord injury that incorporates recently described nerve transfer options and those that are more established.
